JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda including Saudisation and the training and development of Saudi National capability through the growth of the Saudi National Partner Companies thereby reinforcing Industrialisation and Partnerships.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company (SMSCMC), a BAE Systems majority owned joint venture Company as a Governance Manager. The successful individual will be working for a company at the forefront of BAE Systems’ commitment to industrialise the supply chain in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The role reports to the Commercial Director – Central within the SMSCMC team in Riyadh, and will involve co-ordinating and day to day management of SMSCMC global logistics solutions covering Road, Sea & Air including warehousing solutions.
Responsible for managing and optimising the SMSCMC Air-Bridge between Warton, UK & Taif (KSA), leading the supplier relationship with our partners Corporate Air Travel Partners (CAT) & Bahri.
Responsible for providing optimum road transport solutions for all SMSCMC operations both in KSA & UK. Working with suppliers such as Bahri, DHL and Namma Cargo.
Responsible for delivering efficient warehousing solutions, leading the supplier relationships with our partners Wincanton Group and the UK based ‘Laser Team’ & developing future warehousing solutions in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Co-ordinate all communications concerning the SMSCMC Air-Bridge.
Liaise with the O&AT, Salam & Tornado programmes to understand weekly shipment priorities and throughput.
Optimise freight space on logistic routes and assets.
Liaise with UK based teams including 8 Hangar, Ground Handling teams at Warton Aerodrome.
Work with Corporate Air Travel (CAT) to ensure aircraft is safe for flight, carrying compliant manifested cargo and all goods are delivered in proper order.
Manage suppliers to appropriate KPI’s and budgets.
Identify Commercial Freight options for ad-hoc requirement such as oversized urgent shipments.
Monitor and execute sea freight operations with partner Bahri.
Co-ordination and planning of optimal routings and tracking Customer shipments.
Ensure compliance to all Export/Import regulations and dealing with Brokers/Dock operators.
Responsible for providing road transport solutions both in KSA & UK, including handling equipment such as fork lift trucks and cranes.
Investigate option for developing SMSCMC fleet of vehicles versus outsourced 3PL.
Responsible for supplier management of Wincanton Group and point of contact for the UK based ‘Laser Team’.
Monitoring contractual KPI’s.
Resolving/ascertaining liability for such as ‘lost/damaged on shop’.
Provide monthly briefing pack to Management Committee on SMSCMC Logistic Solutions
Supporting the new business team & Lines of Business (LoBs), to create optimal logistic solutions for bid activities.
Seek to optimise the Air-Bridge operation and cost new business opportunities consistently via cost models.
Mobilise successful bid campaign solutions to timescales and budget.
Conduct price analysis to align with market rates guaranteeing competiveness for all modes of transport
Develop guidelines, policies, procedure and instructions for all Logistic activities.
Maintain accurate records and support audits as required
Providing Logistics training to team members and awareness training across SMSCMC
Actively look for ways to improve operations and automate Logistic activities
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Passion for Logistic and Warehousing
Experience of intermodal or aviation logistics
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Strong communication skills and an ability to work with and influence stakeholders at different levels within the organisation
Knowledge, experience and understanding of transport, receiving & handling of Dangerous or Hazardous Goods
Working knowledge of negotiating with Logistic providers & Commercial Airlines
Experience of transforming and streamlining Logistic solutions
Preferable Supply Chain Operations or Business related degree and/or Logistics Accreditation (CILT)
